Fleas belong to the order Siphonaptera and the adults are all bloodsuckers.
Flea bites are annoying, with some people having significant reactions from their bites. The life cycle of the flea has four parts.
egg, maggot, cocoon and adult flea. Fleas always live outside in the grass, but mostly come into contact with humans via a host
( e.g. a cat or dog), although they can be present in a house without a host. The cocoon stage is most troublesome of the stages
as the cocoon is waterproof and resists most treatments. Cocoons are where the flea lives in a water proof and sticky casing that is typically
stuck to the carpet. As the casing is sticky it takes on the surrounding hairs or materials and virtually impossible to see.
Fleas can stay in a cocoon for seven days or as long as A YEAR . They hatch from the cocoon when they detect vibrations and
jump on the nearest moving animal and bit it. Adults may live from 100-500 days and can endure long periods without food.

WHY HAVE THE FLEAS COME BACK AFTER I BOMBED? The reasons fleas come back after a flea bomb, is the cocoons where not effected
by the treatment. Cocoon are typically in the carpet and impossible to see. Without a growth retardant the cycle continues and you still have fleas

TREATMENT - HOST: When considering flea control, consideration of the host must be factored into the
treatment plan. If the customer has a pet, then the pet needs to be treated by the customer with a a product sourced from their vet,
and should be treated on the day of the Pest Control treatment.

TREATMENT - HOME: ACES uses Biflex from FMC as the insecticide spray. ACES also mixes in a growth
retardant- Starycide from BAYER. Following the treatment there is chance that cocoons can still hatch out from vibrations
people walking past. This can produce small dark coloured biting fleas. Remember the floor and your pet still has
active treatments. These fleas can not develop into mature fleas as the Starycide prevents them moulting. Despite
these annoying temporary fleas the cycle will be broken. ACES Flea Brochure (pdf)
